20 minutes!

Chunk 1: (3/20 minutes)

Teacher: 1 (a) Good afternoon Treble Singers. Today we are going to work on the B
section of Shut De Do.

My rehearsal threads for today are blend and tuning.

1d) Please find Measure 21 and write B in a box above the measure.

Students 2p) Students write the letter B in a box in their music.

Teacher: 1 (a) Thank you. The B section is measures 21-37. Above the measure, I
would like you to write the buzz word assurance because this section makes me feel that
way with all the call and response from the solo and you all.

Students 2. (p) Students write buzzword.

Teacher: 3. Let me give you some dynamic markings for this section. On measure 28
can you put a mezzo di voce on the word “night” and do the same for 36.
2p) Students Write

Teacher: 1 (a) Let me model the diction I would like for the b section
1d) Echo me (ShUT DUH DO KEEEP OUT THE DEVIL)

Students 2. (p) students echo

Teacher: 3(sr) Great! we have now the meaning and the diction to deliver this section

Chunk 2: (4/7/20 minutes)

1a) Now, let's be sure we are Rhythmically and melodically accurate. Lets loop from
measure 21-37 beginning with the Altos

Students 2. (p) Altos loop “B section”

Teacher: 3(sr) Great Job Alto, I really love that you are focusing on blend. I would like
it if you could still keep blending with each other and feel the rhythm more.
1a) Keeping the same rhythmic accuracy lets addd the second sopranos.

Students 2. (P) seconds and altos loop

Teacher: 3. (sr) Beautiful, I really loved how both sections blended together. Let's make
sure we are watching our intonation and try not to sing lower than we have to.

Teacher: 1 (a) great let's add the first sopranos.

Students 2. (p) Altos and both soprano sections sing the section.

Teacher: 3. (sr) Amazing everyone! I really think that through the choir you all were
listening and blending with great vowel shapes.

Teacher: 1 (a) Let's add the solos and try to anticipate your response to them.

Students 2. (p) tutti choir sing with solos.

Teacher: 3(sr) Great everyone this B section is sounding amazing. I really appreciate
that you are incorporating our rehearsal threads of blend and tuning into your singing.
Thank you so much for your time this is going to sound great.
