About India Lost and Found

India Lost and Found is a creative common platform that attempts to rebrand India’s lesser
known historic sites as cultural symbols using the knowledge of an increasing umbrella
network of expert and their thoughts.

The way history is served to us leaves no room to trigger our imagination about the
civilizations gone by. The stimulation that is needed to realize that these monuments
represent thriving dynasties, bustling with trade, art and culture, all worthy of curiosity is
simply missing. These sites today represent the most visible aspect of civilizations past, like
gates to a hidden world. Our vision at India Lost and Found is to create a virtual museum of
thought so that when we visit these sites, we may be able to imagine the pulse of the place,
the throb of civilization past as it flourished. For only if we treat it as our ancestry are we
likely to proactively protect it.

Guidelines for the Competition

Participants in their submission will be required to research their allocated site extensively,
to bring out the lives of the people and dynasties of that era in question as also the period
leading up to its present status. Their objective will be to recreate and redefine the site in a
cultural context going beyond standard information on history and architecture, and focus
more on broadening horizons by interpreting the site and its life and times in terms of
society, culture, architecture, the arts, crafts, cuisine, fashion, textiles, oral traditions, trade
and the stories behind the site. The resulting research paper must be engaging & enriching
especially for communities not currently sensitive to historic built heritage.

General rules

1. Each participating team can have 3 – 5 members with a maximum of 2 teams per
college for a total of 25 teams in the competition on a first cum first serve basis.
