Camarines BSN II-A

Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with
diligence. By watching videos of two distinct swimming styles, I get to learn a lot of things which
could really contribute to my knowledge regarding this kind of sport. Also, I get to distinguish the
differences between two swimming style which could really be beneficial for me.

Freestyle is defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in

which competitors are subject to few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. The term
'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest
swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. While
backstroke on the other hand, is termed as “back crawl” which is the style that is swum on the
back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of
swimmers not being able to see where they are going. This basically means that, the main
difference between freestyle and back stroke in swimming is that freestyle is done on your
stomach, and backstroke is done on your back. Freestyle is also a much faster stroke than back
stroke. I have also learned countless of tips about techniques, positions, breathing patterns and
a lot more which makes a piece of bond paper never enough to make it fit.

Learning these basic things is really thrilling and makes me wanna try it. I know that
what I know now is not yet enough to make me be able to swim and perform these style
expertly, but I know that with enough time and effort I would be able to swim towards my goal.
So now, just like what dory said; I’ll just keep swimming!
