A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 9

(COT 1 for S.Y. 2019-2020)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Design a slogan or graphic presentation or write a letter or short speech conveying a legacy worth leaving
2. Use normal and inverted word order
II. SUBJECT-MATTER
Lesson 3: Leaving a Legacy
Topic: Normal and Inverted Word Order
Materials: pictures, handouts, chalk board
References: A Journey through Anglo-American Literature, p. 63
III. PROCEDURE
A. Activity
A question will be raised based on the picture: What is the son trying to say to his mother?
Varied answers will be solicited from the class.

B. Analysis
Does the sentence make sense? What is erroneous with it?
Let us found out what is wrong with the sentence and what is the son communicating to his mother.
Discussion of the topic will follow.
C. Abstraction
After the discussion, a question will be asked: Why is it important to learn about word order?
Varied answers from the students will be shared in class. The most appropriate answer will be highlighted
as the generalization of the lesson.
Miscommunication happens when words put together does not make sense. This is why it is important
for us to learn when to use the normal and inverted word order.
D. Application
Read each sentences below. Identify if it is erroneous or not. If erroneous, rewrite to correct it. If it is not
erroneous, write correct on the blank provided.

Think of a legacy that you can leave behind to either your family, your countrymen, or Mother Earth. With a
partner, show this legacy through any of the following media: slogan, a letter of appeal, a short speech, or a
graphical table. Make use of normal and inverted word orders. Be guided by the following rubrics:
