This study aimed to determine the level of competency in grammatical competence of Grade 12 students, identify variables that may enhance or impede their development, and provide opportunities for students to learn their strengths and weaknesses while helping teachers improve their techniques. This study focused on the strategies and barriers regarding the English communication skills of Grade 12 students at TCU that seek to aim the following purposes:
A. To determine the level of competency in grammatical competence of the
students. B. To use appropriate theory to account the variables that may enhance or impede the development of grammatical competence of the students, namely : i. the perfomance of Grade 12 students in school; ii. the strategies use by the teacher; iii. the proper use of grammar; The students will have an opportunity to know their strengths and weaknesses in english competency. To the teachers they will gain information which are neccessary in making teaching adjustments, techniques, so as fit to their students communication skills and capabilities. In doing so, the teachers will able to increase their effectiveness of grammar in communication. If the findings and result affect the students learning in grammatical competence the study will promote an tutorial or mentoring program to assess the level of competency of the learners.
