DESIGN OF GRID FLOOR SLAB

Size of grid= 8*10 m

Spacing of ribs= 2 m c/c
M25 grade concrete
Fe 415 HYSD bars
STEP1: DIMENSIONS OF SLAB AND BEAMS
Adopt thickness of slab= 100 mm
Depth of ribs= Span/20
= 8000/20
= 400 mm
Width of rib= 200 mm
Adopt overall depth of ribs= 600 mm
STEP2: LOADS
Weight of slab= 0.1×24= 2.4 kN/m2
Total weight of slab= 2.4×8×10= 192 kN
Weight of the ribs= 0.2×0.5×24= 2.4 kN/m
Total weight of beams (x-direction)= 4×2.4×8
= 76.8 kN
Total weight of beams (y-direction)= 3×2.4×10
= 72 kN
Total weight of floor finish= 0.6×8×10= 48 kN
Total live load= 1.5×8×10= 120 kN
Total dead and live load= 508.8 kN
Load per m2= 508.8/8*10 = 6.36 kN/m2
STEP 3: MOMENTS
q1= q ( by4/(ax4+by4)) = 6.36 (104/84+104)
= 4.5 kN/m2
q2= q ( ax4/(ax4+by4)) = 6.36 (84/84+104)
= 1.84 kN/m2
MOMENTS IN X AND Y DIRECTIONS AT CENTRE OF
GRID FOR 2 m WIDTH
Mx= q1b1a2/8 = 4.5×2×82/8
= 72 kNm
My= q2b2a1/8 = 1.84×2×102/8
= 46 kNm
Qx = (4.5×2×8)/2 = 36 kN
Qy = (1.84×2×10)/2 = 18.4 kN
