Introduction Sun Life
She used to write a column at the Watchman Daily Journal and focused on esoteric legal issues
that laymen often take for granted.
Her interests in investments started when as a senior in law school she attended a stock market
seminar. After the seminar, she began researching about Securities Law. Luckily, a number of
items in Securities Law came out during the 2015 bar exams that she was able to weather the
Mercantile Law portion of the exam.
She is currently a junior partner of Sombiro, Buyco-Abellar, Florete & Liao Law Offices. Her
practice ranges from criminal litigation, labor, administrative law, immigration and family law.
While enjoying quite a challenging practice, Atty. Florete joins the Legal Aid program of the
Integrated Bar of the Philippines so she can provide indigents free legal service. It was there she
realized that ordinary Filipinos have poor financial literacy.
She also became a special lecturer on Criminal Law at the West Visayas State University
(Lambunao Campus). She also taught in the accountancy programs of St. Paul University Iloilo
and University of Iloilo. She has taught Negotiable Instruments, Sales, Agency, Banking,
Insurance, Securities Law and Anti Money Laundering Act.
When not playing golf, she is reading a book, perhaps with a cup of coffee to match the book.
Ladies and gentlemen, your speaker!
