READER’S RESPONSE

The short story for this review is entitled The Tale of Tonyo the Brave written by Maria
Aleah G. Taboclaon. It is all about the boy named Tonyo who was addressed as Tonyo the wimp
by his 2 brothers and other children. He stands on ground and faces his fear and fight the
manlalayug with his own hand and slay it. In the end Tonyo is no longer Tonyo the wimp,
Overnight, he had become Tonyo the Brave and that was the name he became known for, for the
rest of his life. The Theme of the story is to face your fear, believe in yourself, the weak can also
be strong.

The thing I like the most of the part of the story is when Tonyo stood his ground and face
his fear and fight it for the good of his own town. I learned that the one of the messages of the
story is to face your own fear not for your own good but face your fear for the good of your love
ones. This story makes me realized something I missed in my life and that is to face your fear for
the own good of others not by your own self. And I learned that do not underestimate the others
because they might can do much better than you.

Overall the story is quite good and the flow of the story is good. The creativity of the story
is amazing because the story was base in the supernatural of the Philippines and it's so quite
amazing. Relating myself to the story is just to keep believe in yourself until you successfully
achieve your goal.
