 Inadequate Service of Barangay Officials

Introduction
How should barangay’s deliver basic services in the most efficient, responsiveness and sustainable
manner? As the basic political unit, the barangay’s serves as the primary planning and
implementing unit of government programs, basic services, projects and activities and as a forum
in which the collective views of the people in the community may be crystallized and considered.
This study is also an occasion for us to clarify our ideas on issues which are significant in today’s
administration. The good governance and strategies to realize it are eminently significant today.

Objectives:
1. To provide basic medicine on demand for indigents and kids thru the purchase of
medicines.
2. To promote an environment friendly community, and to maintain the peace and order
situation within the barangay.
3. To give the best services and responds with respect and honesty, and to repair barangay
canals as a preventive measure against floods during rainy seasons.

Methodology
The study was conducted at Barangay Bagua 3, Cotabato City and the target was barangay officials
and the residents of this barangay and it happened last December 09, 2018. During interview we
asked question to them.
1. Think the leadership of barangay officials is enough?
2. Think the peace and order in this barangay is enough?
3. Does that represent right the barangay official citizens services?

Results
1. I think no, because the service performance of barangay official in this barangay is not
enough to develop this barangay. The barangay officials are responsible for improvement
of barangay but sometimes they not do their jobs correctly or negligent.
2. I think the peace and order in this barangay is enough to watch or guard the residents of
this barangay. The barangay officials and barangay kagawads conducting a ronda patrol
for the security of the residents. In this barangay there are curfew hours conduct by the City
Mayor for the safety of the residents in this city. The peace and order in this barangay are
very important way to reduce criminality.
 3. Barangay officials provides right services but not enough to improve or develop the
barangay. We need a effort to manage what the needs of residents projects like repairing
the canals and passage of barangay. As a resident of this barangay we need the help of
barangay officials for this problem. Because the problem of the barangay is responsibilities
of barangay officials.

Conclusion
As a one of resident of this barangay, I can say the problem of this barangay is the leadership of
the barangay officials to manage the problem of the barangay. Barangay officials is the responsible
for the barangay problem like floods during rainy season, repair the canal of the barangay and
maintain the peace and order. Barangay officials there are responsibilities to conduct barangay
health care center for the residents check up for their health. And to promote barangay we need
the help of barangay officials and residents of barangay to maintain the cleanliness and to improve
the skills and knowledge to sports. I suggest conducting an event like Basketball League and
Volleyball League by purok. As a resident of this barangay I need the full service and effort of
barangay officials for the improvement of this barangay.
