Planning The Lecture: Planning Checklist: Organisation
The following checklist will help in looking at your lecture plan before you give the lecture. It
may also be useful when you come to reflect on your lectures by helping you to locate problem
areas and their causes.
Organisation
Have you allocated an appropriate amount of time to more difficult sections of the
lecture?
Have you thought about whether there will be breaks in the lecture and where these will
occur?
Integration
Is the lecture related to the previous experience and knowledge of the students?
Have you provided a clear statement of the importance of the lecture for students’ present
Have you planned questions or other means of finding out whether the students have
Have you prepared or booked the resources you will need for the lecture e.g. overhead
Facilities
Are you familiar with the room where the lecture will take place?
