Transitionsto Professional Nursing Practiceis an evidence-based coursethat provides anintroductionto the philosophical, conceptual, and theoretical bases for
the development of professional roles and practices for baccalaureate nurses. Content includes historical, contemporary, legal, ethical, and technological
influences on nursing as an applied science in health care. Topics include application of recognized standards of care, professional role development,
accountability, autonomy, and delegation. Interprofessional collaboration, approaches to communication in healthcare settings, quality improvement, and
diverse nursing roles are explored. Evidence based practice, the development of critical reasoning and clinical judgment, and leadership principles at the staff
level are integrated into the course.
