Siddharth Shriram Group company, with a commitment to providing Honda’s
latest passenger car models and technologies, to the Indian customers. The
total investment made by the company in India till date is Rs 1620 crores in
Greater Noida plant and Rs 784 crores in Tapukara plant.

HSCI’s first state-of-the-art manufacturing unit was set up at Greater

Noida, U.P in 1997. The green-field project is spread across 150 acres of land
(over 6,00,000 sq. m.). The annual capacity of this facility is 100,000 units. The
company’s second manufacturing facility is in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This

4
facility is spread over 600 acres and will have an initial production capacity of
60,000 units per annum, with an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore. The first
phase of this facility was inaugurated in September 2008.

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. launched its much-awaited small car, the
Honda Brio (pronounced as Br-ee-o and means “energetic” and “cheerful” in
Italian), in the Indian market. The car, offered as the perfect package for a new
era, embodies the best of Honda’s technologies to deliver fun and agile driving,
fuel-efficiency, spaciousness & safety.

It operates production facilities at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and

facilities in India as of 2010 was over 16.2 billion.

over 150 acres (0.61 km2). The initial capacity of the plant was 30,000 cars per
annum, which was thereafter increased to 50,000 cars on a two-shift basis.
The capacity has further been enhanced to 100,000 units annually as of 2008.
This expansion led to an increase in the covered area in the plant from 107,000
m² to over 130,000 m².

The company invested 7.8 billion in Bhiwadi for its second production
plant with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.] It operates under
the ISO 9001 standard for quality management and ISO 14001 for environment
management.

CHALLENGES BEING FACED BY HONDA PLANT IN
INDIA
The Thailand floods in November last year, disrupted Honda’s supply
chain to some of its key manufacturing facilities including its Greater Noida
plant in Delhi, as result of which production volumes of its passenger vehicles,
including the refreshing new Brio hatch have experienced a major
setback. However with the situation having now improved, Honda Siel Cars
India Ltd. (HSCI) has now announced that it will resume normal production at
its Greater Noida plant with two shift operations.

Delighted at the recommencement of its normal production cycle at the

Noida facility, Honda Siel Cars India Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales)
Jnaneswar Sen said, “We will have production of 370 cars per day from the
15th of February and from the following week it will be ramped up to 440 units
per day. Honda has been carefully monitoring the part supply process and has
have taken all the necessary recovery actions to normalize production situation
with critical components now being sourced from Japan & China.”

With its production processes now sorted HSCI’s immediate priority will
be to clear most of its current Brio bookings by March 2012 and have these
cars delivered to waiting customers. HSCI will also be launching a
comprehensive communication campaign to communicate the Brio availability
and increase activities at dealerships.

Where model wise production schedules are concerned HSCI has already
rolled out more than 1,500 units of the new Honda City in January 2012.
Furthermore, the production of its Brio hatch will resume from mid February
2012, while the production of the Honda Jazz will start towards the end of
February 2012.
