Modern Art
- The beginning of the 20th century is a period where there is a
revolution and change in art
- Europe was the birthplace of styles that greatly influenced
other continents
Impressionistic Art
- Form of art where the perception of the artist is captured
with an interplay of light of the sun
- Claude Monet popularized the term “impression” in 1874
with his artwork entitled Impression, Sunrise, which caused
the entire movement
Impressionism Characteristics
- Moments captured are painted quickly with its mood and
atmosphere being conveyed
- Time and motion are elements made within the artwork with
color/shape changes and blurring
- Outdoor paintings are preferred
- Use of tiny dabs and dashes of bright colors to create a
blending illusion from a distance
- Includes people involved in everyday events
