I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:


1. Single-out sensory images used in a poem;
2. Appreciate all the creations and value them; and
3. Draw an effective image that suggests God's love.

Review:
What again do we call the person being interviewed? Interviewee. What about the one
interviewing? Interviewer. What do we call the set of questions asked by the interviewer?

A. PRE-READING
Motivation:
GUESS ME GAME
The class will be divided into two big parties and will compete guessing what the image
is or who the image is as described.

Unlocking of Difficulties

Flung- throw or move forcefully. (threw)


Spangling- a spot of bright color of light. (sparkling)
Batted- (blinked)
Cuddle- (sat close)

B. READING
Imagery- is another way of achieving a sense of unity in a literary piece. It also refers to
a word used to create mental picture or image that communicates experience.
1. First Reading (of the Teacher)
The students will listen as the teacher reads the poem.
2. Second Reading
Let the students read the poem,“The Creations” for about 7-10 minutes.
C. POST READING
Students will answer the following questions:
1. Why does He create the world and finally, man?
2. Select one image applied to God that you consider especially imaginative and effective.
What does this image suggest? Why do you consider it effective?
3. Johnson considered “The Creation” both as a sermon and as a poem. Does the effect or
meaning of “The Creation” change if it is read as a sermon? Give your reasons for your
opinion.

V. EVALUATION

Sensory images are singled- out in the poem, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” by Cecil
Frances Alexander. Understand the poem and create a vivid artwork or drawing expressing
God’s infinite love to everything especially to mankind using images.
Be guided by the following criteria:
Originality - 25%
Vividness - 25%
Images - 25%
Message - 25%

VI. ASSIGNMENT

Make a collage to represent the poem “The Creation” By James Weldon Johnson as a
whole.
