LMI Mentoring Session
Practical Session/s
What can I expect during this Session/s?
After understanding your shortfalls stemming from the
S1 Theory session/s, we will support you to gather
practical experience of doing the Inspection and
performing the SANS conforming Load Testing to the
machine you which to register for with ECSA as LMI.
What will we be doing on a daily basis?
If you are not in possession of the correct inspection & load
testing procedures for the categories that you want to apply
for, this will get priority during these sessions. The required
procedures will be drafted and practiced during the practical
testing sessions. If you have the procedures in place they
will be verified by our Mentor and then practiced with you to
ensure full understanding and application of them.
Time will be allowed for each category and technical details
related to the item will be rehearsed.
How else could the User benefit from this?
In addition to ensuring your future or candidate LMI gain
practical experience you will also:
Receive checklists applicable to the machine type
Receive an approved inspection and load test
procedure – SANS conformance ensured
Receive a logbook of testing hours done with mentor
Receive legal compliance of the equipment in the form
of valid certificates

Who will be presenting the Sessions?
This training is executed by a subject matter expert &
LMI with more the 30 years’ experience. The LMI have
over 10 categories registered behind his name and will
be “holding your hand” during the informative practical
training. The Mentor holds a valid “medical clearance
certificate” and can accompany you in all aspects.
How long will it take & what is the cost?
We cannot predict how many load tests will be required before
you reach the obligatory competence level. If you have lifting
machines we can continue until you reach the point where
you know what is expected to become a LMI.
You can continue to practice your skills assisted, or alone,
once we agree that you know how to safely proceed. A follow
up practical assessment will then be scheduled. Our sessions
cost R1800 per person per day. Group rates can be negotiated
upfront to allow you to understand the full cost. Should you
accompany us for our own testing tasks, the daily rate reduces
significantly but you will be responsible for your own cost
during the testing tasks or projects.

The above mentioned certificate issued can be used in the
POE of the candidate LMI and the user’s legal Lifting
Machinery file. The legal appointment and DMR 18
requirements must always be adhered to.
