1. INTRODUCTION : Prayer, Routine Activities and Articulating Learning Objectives
2. MOTIVATION : Group work activity –viewing pictures
3. INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY : introducing Haiku and texttula (compare and contrast)
4. PRACTICE : Composing their own verses through the given pictures
5. ENRICHMENT : Further research on examples of literary genres and deducting of literary
meaning with textual evidence (homework)
6. EVALUATION : Write their final compositions in literary text and post it in social media

1. Each row will write a 1-line hugot of the assigned picture for
two minutes on a strip of paper.
The teacher has the
freedom to change
the picture.
2. Each group will choose a representative to recite the hugot line in
the most emotional way.
3. How did you construct your hugot line? (observe the structure of
the stanza)
4. What prompted you to express your emotions in your hugot line?

Text tula is a group of words that uses mobile gadgets. It is also more like a
tanaga. It consist four lines and seven syllables, and every ending of lines has a
rhyme word.
(AABB, ABAB, ABBA) it can also be freestyle

The Tanaga is an indigenous type of Filipino poem, that is used


traditionally in the Tagalog language. The modern tanaga is used in a
variety of Philippine languages and English due to popularity in the 20th
century. Its usage declined in the later half of the 20th century, but was
revived through a collectivity of Filipino artists in the 21st century. The
poetic art uses four lines, each line having seven syllables only.

1. What have you noticed about the way a text tula and haiku are
written?
2. What about the transition of both genres then and now?
3. Is there any similarities between the two (text tula and haiku)
4. How would you differentiate one genre from the other

PRACTICE

Collaboration:
Look back at the pictures assigned to your row. The odd number rows
will compose a text tula and the even number rows will compose a haiku.
Pair Work
Pairs will make a venn diagram of the text tula and the haiku.
