Question: One of the certification of maintenance is a Certificate of Release to

Service for class ‘A’ approved organization; define the CRS and explain when it is
issued.
A certificate of release to service shall be issued before flight at the completion of
any maintenance, it says that all maintenance requested has been carried out by
organization in accordance with procedures defined in Maintenance Organization
Exposition and use of maintenance data also there are no non compliances which
are known that seriously hazard the flight safety.
Certificate of Release to Service is issued after any scheduled or unscheduled task
carried out on a fuel system feature classified as Critical Design Configuration
Control Limitations (CDCCL) and it is ensured that maintenance records shall
reflect the correct configuration which is done by marking CDCCL task on CRS.
Certificate of Release to Service states, that the work specified except as
otherwise specified was carried out in accordance with CAR-145, and in respect
to that work the aircraft/aircraft component is considered ready to release to
service.
The CRS should relate operator’s instructions or the aircraft maintenance
program which itself may cross refer to manufacturer/operator’s instruction in a
maintenance manual, service bulletin or any other document. The date such
maintenance was carried out should include when the maintenance took place
relative to any life or overhaul limitation in terms of date/flying
hours/cycles/landings as appropriate. The CRS may summarize extensive
maintenance, and cross refer to the work pack containing full details; dimensional
information should be retained in the work pack record.
Certificate of Release to Service is issued after accomplishment of the task in
accordance with the approved technical data and manufacturer’s
recommendations by keeping in mind all safety precautions and procedures
defined in maintenance manual and this will justify the continued airworthiness
of the aircraft.
