I. Background

As an engineer it is crucial to prepared themselves for entering work environment.

In University of Indonesia we have been prepared with fundamental knowledge of
engineering, majoring in mechanical engineering. This knowledge wouldn’t matter if we
don’t applied it in society.We need to face real engineering problem and solve it so it will
become best beneficiary for the company and also the stakeholders. That is why we have
to learn how to apply these knowledge to the society by taking part in this internship.
The reason why we choose intership program in PERTAMINA HULU
MAHAKAM is because PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM is the largest oil company in
Indonesia, and also still expanding even further until today. Second, we know that
PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM is a global leader in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and
also a major player in low carbon energies.
Our main reason why we choose to taking part in this internship program because
we know that PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM has a good performance in maintaining
the system, especially system maintenance in upstream. Maintaining system in a big
industry such as oil and gas companies are crucial, which can lead how to keep the
efficiency system high.
We hope by taking part in this Internship Program we can also learn how to work
as a professional, discipline, high integrity, and uphold the work ethics as an engineer.

II. Objective

Generally our main objective for this Internships are to gain work experience as
and engineer. And also

Spesifically, our goals for this internships are:

1. To fulfill one of passing requirement for Internship course in UI Mechanical engineering
Department.
2. Know about PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM general profile.
3. Having chance to apply our knowledge about engineering which we have been taught in
University of Indonesia to identify, analyze and solve problems which occured in
PERTAMINA HULU MAHAKAM.
4. With this internship program, we hope that we would gain knowledge about real working
environment, so that we will be prepared to work as an engineer after we graduate.
5. Recognize the technology that is applied in the company

III. Field of Interest

Applicants interest of study is system maintenance in the upstream. as the main points in
the implementation of activities in the form of procedural, resource and energy
management, operational management, and fieldwork, which includes:

1. Maintenance and monitoring control system.

2. Fluid mechanics in piping and pump system.
3. Heat transfer.

From the field of interest mentioned above, we hope that we will be placed according
to the as written above. We also hope that the topics that we propose will have benefit
for the company

IV. Method

The learning method which will be used upon the Internship program is as follows:
1. Observing Problems
Specify the problems which the intern face with direct obeservation
2. Data taking
Taking the data which is necessary for continuous development with:
- Field study; observing and collecting data directly
- Literature study; collecting all information which related with the problem and its
solution that the intern face and also comparing it with other company.
3. Analyze Data
Analizing the data that we get from observation, then compare it with a fundamental theory
to substract a conclusion regarding the solution.
