LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

PEARL – 1:00-2:00 / 09/18/2019

DAY 2

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will able to;
a. differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence or absence of
certain organelles; S7LT-IId-4
b. explain why the cell is considered the basic structural and functional unit
of all organisms; S7LT-IIe-5

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Plant and Animal Cell
Reference: Science 7 Learner’s Material pp.
Science 7 Teachers Guide pp. 69 – 77
Materials:
 Picture of plant and animal cell
 PowerPoint presentation

III. PROCEDURE
a. Preliminary Activity
 Prayer
 Classroom Management
 Checking of Attendance

b. Review
 What was our topic last meeting?
 How different is the Prokaryotic Cell than the Eukaryotic Cell?
 How did Robert Hooke discover the cells?
c. Motivation
Unscramble the following words that is connected to our
discussion.
1. Unclesu
2. Ctoplayms
3. Ogarnllee
4. Entrcoils
5. Lllleawc

d. Discussion
Two kinds of cell
1. Animal Cell – are eukaryotic cells or cells with a membrane-bound
nucleus.
- contains other membrane-bound organelles, or tiny
cellular structures, that carry out specific functions
necessary for normal cellular operation.
- are rounded and somewhat irregular or spherical or
cylindrical in shape.

2. Plant Cell –is also a eukaryotic cell. More similar in size and are typically
rectangular or cube shaped. A plant cell also contains structures not found
in an animal cell.

 Which cell parts are found in both cells?

 Which are present only in animal cells?
 Which are present only in plant cells?
e. Generalization
 How can you differentiate plant cell from animal cell?
 What organelles/parts that can be found only in the animal cell? Plant cell?
f. Application
Using the Venn Diagram, write down all the similarities and the
differences of plant and animal cell. Do the activity in your notebook.
PLANT CELL VS ANIMAL CELL
Activity 2

Cell only

IV. ASSESSMENT
Write P if the organelle belongs in the Plant cell, A if it belongs to
the Animal cell. If it belongs to both cells, write B.
