This toolbox talk discusses safe scaffolds and provides instructions for workers. Safe scaffolds have secure, stable platforms for work activities. Workers should check that platforms have hook-on boards, toe boards to prevent falling objects, access steps, and no movement when shaken. Anyone who feels a scaffold is unsafe should report it to their foreman so a trained person can inspect and fix any issues.

SUBJECT: SAFE SCAFFOLDS SITE: PRESENTED BY: WHAT ARE SAFE SCAFFOLDS ?
Safe scaffolds are scaffolds which provide a safe
working platform upon which various activities can be conducted.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ?
Ensure all platforms have sufficient hook-on boards.
Ensure toe boards are placed to prevent materials falling to the level below. Ensure the scaffold is provided with adequate access steps to the working levels. Is the structure secured? (I.e. if shaken does the scaff- old move)
These would be quick checks on the scaffold. If you
were to climb on a scaffold which you felt was unsafe, then you should report this to your foreman so that the trained person on site could verify it's safety and correct the faults. THIS TOOLBOX TALK WAS DISCUSSED WITH: Name and signature Name and signature
