Vertical Form, Fill and Seal (VFFS) machines are automated assembly line packaging systems
used in packaging liquids and solids. VFFS machine can be intermittent or continuous motion.
Intermittent motion machines operate on the principle that vertical bag seals are made when
the film is moving and horizontal seals occur when the film stops. Intermittent motion
machines offer a suitable solution for applications where speed is not absolutely paramount.
On continuous motion machines the vertical and horizontal bag seals are applied without
stopping the film and therefore higher production rates can be achieved.
Vertical Form, Fill, and Seal (VFFS) machines are used in the consumer products industry for a
wide variety of packaging applications. Various products like salt, tea, sugar, coffee, spices,
snack foods, wafers, detergent and candies are placed into formed pouches and then sealed.
The pouch material is flexible and typically heat-sealable plastic. Paper is also used and sealed
by glue.
Fully automatic VFFS machines require limited operator intervention. The operator need only
replenish product by loading supply hoppers or changing packaging film drums. For machines
that are semi-automatic, operators are required to perform part of the packaging operation.
Continuous motion machines operate on the principle that both vertical and horizontal bag seals are
made when the film is in motion. These machines operate at the highest attainable speeds and
require a reciprocating sealing jaw motion format
The VFFS machine can be divided into four functional areas: (1) mixing, weighing, dosing; (2)
forming, (3) feeding, aligning, registration; and (4) closing, sealing, cutting.
Typically, roll-fed flexible packaging film is unwound from a feeder roll. A dancer roll would be
used to maintain a constant tension on the unwinding web of film. The unwinding motor and
dancers are required for maintaining tension and maintaining critical accuracy in feed. The film
is threaded up over a forming collar and then down, forming the web into a chute-like tube. For
perishable food products, gas flushing is executed to prolong the shelf life. The process involves
injecting an inert gas, like carbon monoxide, into the package cavity before it is sealed. A
vertical overlap seam and bottom seal are applied. The pouch is then filled and a top seal
applied while a knife cuts the sealed pouch from the descending web of film .

Products
Free and sluggish-flowing powders, pellets and granules from the food,
pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Packaging material
Dosing technology
For precise dosing of difficult flowing powders and granules, the Sigpack RA is equipped
with either a patented auger filler or tipping filler. These technologies perform up to 100
cycles per minute. Individually adjustable dosing cups guarantee reliable weight
accuracy at high speed while providing gentle product handling. By filling deep inside
the forming pouch, the dosing technology minimizes the product loss and ensures a
clean sealing seam. The swivel mechanism of the dosing unit ensures an optimal
accessibility and easy cleaning.
Sealing technology
The extended sealing time achieved leads to reliable seal tightness. The low sealing
temperature required results in low thermal impact on the packaging material and on
the product itself. The intermitted operating principle provides gentle material handling
and results in a consistent pouch quality with high output.
Standard Features
Transparent guarding of system

Woodman G3 / G3c
The G3 and G3c dual-tube “Universal Bagmakers” provide ease of use, high speed, and
package size flexibility to applications including: potato chips, tortilla chips, corn chips,
pretzels, snack crackers, popcorn and all other salted snacks. They produce a wide range
of bag sizes with consistent performance throughout the range, thanks to servo motion
controls and auto program setup. The G3c is a continuous-motion machine providing
higher speeds.
The G3 and G3c produce pillow pouches, block bottom bags, and perforated strings, and
can apply promotional strips, notches and punched holes. The advanced servo motion
control of the film pull belts, end-seal jaws and stripping, provides quiet, smooth and
fast operation.

modified-atmosphere-packaging-lines:
FOR GRAIN AND POWDER TME offers a proven range of packaging lines in the atmosphere
appreciated by the market for over 30 years. The classic TME vertical packaging lines is now
adding more and more efficient and more flexible lines.

Output max:
6 kW
Power absorption:
7 Bar
Air Supply:
100 Nl/min
Air Consumption:
The CV-A packaging line is a classic and reliable vertical packaging machine that forms,
fills and heat-seals bags.
This system represents TME’s history as they have been a reference in vertical packaging
in Italy and worldwide for almost thirty years.
CV-A was conceived as a completely mechanical machine, a feature that means reduced
maintenance.
Like all the TME lines, CV-A stands out for its flexibility, as it is able to produce both
pillow bottom and flat bottom bags.
CV-A is designed to make small bags from 100 g up to a maximum of 3 kg.
This system’s versatility is ensured by a long list of accessories such as the aroma valve
application device, the inert gas injection device, the suction system for vacuum packing
and various dosing systems like the electronic weighing machine and the volumetric
dosing screw.
Its high reliability and constant technological updates make the CV-A a safe and reliable
choice for even the most demanding customers.
b- CV-B packaging line
the CV-B packaging line is one of the most advanced and complete systems in the world
of vertical modified atmosphere packaging.
Unlike the classic vertical packaging machines, CV-B can support all types of seals
required by today’s bag market.
In fact, CV-B can be configured to make bags with various aesthetic impacts such as:
single central seal, single offset seal, single side seal or quad seals.
The CV-B stands out not only for its many configurations, but also for the high
performance ensured by its internal brushless motor technology.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The FORMAT packaging line is the most complete and versatile system that TME can
offer for modified atmosphere packaging.
This line can package with two kinds of bag: single seal and quad seal, but its versatility
comes also from the multiple top closures types: single folded edge, double folded edge,
tin tie and bow closures.
The product can be dosed inside the bag forming pipe or in the adjacent
station. FORMAT can be equipped for both powdered and granular products using the
same system.
The aroma valve application device can be completely integrated inside the packaging
machine.
