Part (a)
The emergence of new mobile technology has developed a much wider set of concerns for user.
The goals of a typical user while purchasing any smartphone is described below.
User wants:
 The device to be more user friendly, interactive and easy to use.
 Their mobiles quick and simple, because they want everything should be done within second without
wasting any time. This led the user experience satisfying, Supportive of creativity, motivating and
emotionally fulfilling.
 Their mobile phones to be enjoyable, fun, entertaining. As they wants camera’s with artificial intelligence,
good gaming graphics with high RAM , ROM and better versions of operating systems.

 Their mobile phones helpful and rewarding with high quality of internet like 3G/4G mobile data, because
it’s the era of internet and user wants to be connected socially.

The term Human Computer Interaction is the study of design, evaluation and implementation of interactive
computing systems for human use and the study of major phenomena surrounding them.
It was adopted in the mid 1980’s as a means of new subject of study. This term acknowledged that the focus of
interest was broader than just the design of the interface and concerned with all those aspects that relate to the
interaction between user and computers.

Why HCI was needed:

Before the emergence of HCI, there were only technology specialist, professionals and engineers who were able
to use computers, and these were so complex to be used by normal human beings. Computer related products
become so annoying, infuriating and they even kill few of us.
For Example:
The American airplane crash incident in December 1995. The pilot had entered the wrong navigation in computer
that caused the death of one hundred and fifty tow passengers all eight crewmembers. Only four passengers
survived with serious injuries.
So, the incidents like these have created the need of Human Computer interaction. The goals of HCI are to
produce usable, safe and functional systems.

Importance of HCI:
HCI play very important role before designing any computing machine that interacts with Human being, in this
way we can develop machines that can be usable, effective, safe, efficient, learnable, and memorable that can
provide full functionality and good user experience. So that the machines will be no more annoying, infuriating
and no more loss of live will happen again.
