To start a ICSE school

Project school

The pie chart below shows a outline of basic requirements for a

school to start and the essential things to be done, to understand

the plan keenly it is given below the pie chart for specific require-

ments and things to be done.

First and foremost there’s a land available in Yelahanka and to start a

school in Yelahanka, there should be a proper survey done regarding how

Research Paper Semper 2

many young children stay in and around Yelahanka and how many children

can afford a ICSE school fees and most importantly which are the happening

school in and around Yelahanka, because if there are many more good school

then the chances are decreasing to excel .

BUDGET AND LEGAL DUTIES

Allocation of funds are one of the important factors, we have 3cr in our

hand and to utilise every single penny in a right spot is the goal, Starting a

school can be challenging. When a group of founders decides to open a

school, they need to make sure that their decision is based on sound data and

that they have a reasonable understanding of the costs and strategies needed

to successfully open their school. In today’s complicated market, the need to

work smarter and be ready for opening day is critical. There is never a second

chance to make a first impression. With proper planning, founders can be pre-

pared to start the school of their dreams and manage costs and project devel-

opment effectively, establishing a school for generations to come. Here are

our time-tested rules for starting a school. And most toughest job today is to

get a license to start a school, practically one should be ready to pay huge

amount of bribe in India especially in Bangalore, one should be legally very

strong before anything else no matter by legal or illegal(bribe), this is fact in

today’s world. Once ready legally none could claim for anything in future.
Research Paper Semper 3

LAND AND INFRASTRUCTURE

After the legal documents are strong one could go to the next step ie

land and infrastructure, keeping in mind the area of land one should keep

enough space for play ground for children to play because while licensing the

permission is given only till grade 7 and children under grand 7 tend to play

outdoor, good amount of space for children to play is very important. The

school must own a minimum area of land specified as per its location and the

region it stands in. The premise must hold a constructed building on one part

of the land and ample playing and open space on the remaining part of the

land. The trust or society running the school must be registered beforehand

and the land for the school should also be registered with the name of this so-

ciety. If you do not own the land, it should have been leased to the same soci-

ety for a period of 30 years at least. This lease period can be less than 30

years only in case the land has been allotted by the Govt. or a govt. agency.he

school should have class rooms big enough to provide at least the floor space

of 1 sq. mtr. to each student individually along with all proper facilities for

the children. The school must also have all the basic facilities required for the

physically challenged students like chairs, elevators or slopes, etc. There

should be a minimum of 1 computer lab in the school. And the lab should be
Research Paper Semper 4

well equipped with a good internet connection, minimum 10 computers or

computer to students ratio of 1:20. The school must also have a spacious li-

brary with 1500 books and 15 magazines at least. The student to book ratio

has to be maintained at 1:5 by the school authorities.Proper certifications have

to be taken from local authorities for safety of children, safe drinking water

and sanitation, hygienic and healthy environment etc. The school must also

fulfill all the standards set by the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory

Education Act, 2009 about teacher to student ratio, school basic infrastructure

requirements, minimum working hours and required equipment in a school.

STAFF RECRUITMENT

As per the ICSE Bye-laws, a school is required to appoint fully quali-

fied teaching faculty on a regular basis. The teachers can be ap-
pointed on a contractual basis provided the school is unable to get a
subject teacher on a permanent basis. Visiting faculty for academic
subject will not be permitted in the school. However faculties for extra
school activities and seminars and conferences will be called on a reg-
ular basis. The School Management Committees will have to issue ad-
vertisements in the location newspapers for selection / appointment of
teachers in the respective schools. The format for the advertisement is
given in the Operation Manual. Leading web recruiting portals will also
be used to source in potential candidates. In addition, Life Edu-
care also has a vast data bank of the prospective teachers, which will
be forwarded to all the Schools to have a wide choice for selection of
the teachers. As a matter of policy, all Schools should focus on their
core-competencies for delivering quality education & outsource the
Research Paper Semper 5

non-critical school activities. The services for following areas / depart-

ments are recommended to be outsourced rather than staff on perma-
nent basis:
a) Security Personnel
b) House Keeping Services / Conservancy Staff
c) Arboricultural (maintenance of lawns / gardens) Services

ADVERTISING

The traditional forms of acquiring new applicants direct mail, bill-

boards, paid advertising, prints ads are no longer working for many
schools. These methods are not measurable, very expensive, and the
ROI is minimal if not negative.Using inbound marketing at your private
school is about creating content that is going to be found by your tar-
get parents and/or students on Google and in social media. This con-
tent lives on your school’s blog and website, and is targeted at solving
the problems and answering the questions your target audiences or
personas are searching for online.

Social Media Strategy

Social media really supports your content strategy and provides you
with channels to promote it. It’s also serves as a retention tool, so you
can easily engage with families and students.
Main motive is the people out there should show their interest in our
school after going through the infrastructure, culture, education and
excellence of teachers.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

Once the school is recognised by the government and has a good

name in the circle then the last step is make it larger than larger, get-
ting license till class 12 and bringing best teachers across the country
and developing not only educational structures but sports and other
extra curricular activities.which could excel in future, lastly usually
ICSE Schools are costly but here the trick is keeping the fees low in
first few year and later when it’s made its own spot it could be in-
creased for the quality.

CONCLUSION

The best school is one which has a good culture, decency, diplomacy
and of course a quality education.
