SCENARIO

Ajax Corporation adalah perusahaan ternama dalam bidang pengolahan zat kimia. Ajax
memiliki dua pabrik yang sama-sama memproduksi aluminum sulfat, yaitu Northfield
Aluminum dan Belmont Processing. Detilnya disajikan dalam tabel berikut:

Dalam kelompok, buat laporan formal berdasarkan situasi atau kasus sebagai berikut:
a) Ajax is concerned about Northfield’s poor profit picture, as compared with
Belmont’s. It suspects that poor management is the problem. You are a consultant for
Ajax. Write a concise report on the problem to the president of Ajax.
b) You are the manager of operations for Northfield. Through discussions with local
politicians, you discover that Northfield may qualify for a plant modernization grant,
but that Ajax would have to apply for it. Since Ajax will have to spend a lot of time
negotiating such a grant and will have to make certain guarantees to the government,

 the president of Ajax asks you to write a formal report to him which shows why the
plant needs modernization.

II. Writing Proposal

Case:

To help students earn money and gain work experience, the provincial government has
agreed to pay 300 students up to $3 000 each to devise and carry out civic service or civic
improvement projects. The projects must benefit a needy area or group or the community as a
whole. The rules for the program state that the government will pay $8.00 per hour to a
student, plus any material costs not exceeding $1 000. Students may propose a joint project
with up to four students participating.

Dear Mr. Jhon Smit,

The purpose of this letter is to request the most recent annual report of Northfield
Aluminum’s poor profit of this year.

The Northfield Aluminum's poor profit has been received and we find out the profit
been decreased about 12%-15% each month. We did a comparison with Belmont’s
profit and we think Northfield have a poor management in manufactory. We have
investigated the management make a wrong plan about the business and plan.

In presenting the report, I take the opportunity to acknowledge the professionalism

because Northfield have qualifying for the plant modernization grant. For the preparation of
