Stop Procrastinating

Jay Shetty

Discovering your values

Procrastination is a sign that we struggle with making decisions. We struggle with making
decisions because we don’t know our values. When you know that one of your values is for example
“achievement”, you will more like take action because you have identified it.

The following activities will help you decipher your core values.

1. Remember 3 times when you were the happiest you’ve ever been

Now ask yourself…

• What were you doing?

• Were you with other people? (What were they like?)

• What made you happy?

2. What do you look for in close friends, colleagues and family?

Now ask yourself…

• Why those specific qualities?

• Do you embody those qualities yourself?

• How do you feel when others’ don’t live up to them?

3. Write your ideal testimonial

a Who would you want to write it?

b What would be highlighted about you?

c How would you want to be remembered?

Start Doing

Starting something is difficult. But everyone who is successful today started somewhere. You don’t have
to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. I always recommend starting with a Minimum Via-
ble Product (MVP), or a test and experiment.

For each of your goals create a ladder. This is where you keep asking what you need to do until you find
a simple next step. Here is an example.

Goal: I want to make tutorial videos for social media

1. Make a video for social media

i. Who would you want to write it?

ii. What would be highlighted about you?

iii. How would you want to be remembered?

The bottom step is something you can action right away. Break down your goals into mini action steps
that are a BIG priority and SMALL step.

Make an Impact

We procrastinate because we don’t know “WHY” we are doing what we are doing. Simply ask yourself
“WHY”. Your answer could be to take care of your family, or to make a living, or to share incredible
messages or to change lives. You will get more movement and fuel from your “WHY” than anything else.
Here’s how to find your why:

1. What makes me come alive?

2. If money were no object what would I do?

3. What is my definition of success?
