SUBJECT: Troubleshooting Codes ErrD009 and ErrD010

MODELS AFFECTED: A380 (H40-60XT)

DESCRIPTION: This Service Gram is to assist the technician in troubleshooting the

error codes ErrD009 and ErrD010 on this model. Hyster Diagnostic Troubleshooting
Manual 9000SRM2004 has incorrect information for ErrD009 and no information for
ErrD010. This will be corrected in a future release.

The truck has three types of error messages. ErrC### is a code generated by the
truck’s system controller. ErrD### is a code generated by the dash display, and
ErrE### is a code generated by the truck’s ECM (engine controller).

ErrD009 indicates an open circuit between the dash display’s engine temperature
indicator light and the coolant temperature sending unit (part number 2043160). It is
unrelated to the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) which is an ErrE### error code.

ErrD010 indicates a short circuit between the engine temperature indicator light and
the coolant temperature sending unit. The sending unit can be found on the rear side
of the engine block as seen in Figure 1 below.

If you have either of these ErrD### error codes, locate this sensor and check wire #16
back to pin 9/CPS50 of the display for a bad crimp, break or short. See Figure 2, below,
for wiring configuration. If you don't find an issue with the wiring, replace the coolant
temperature sending unit (part number 2043160).
