GROUP 1

Joy is a student of Dauin National High School. Her house is just 100 m away from the
school and only walked for 5 minutes every day. So, she only travels with an average
speed of 20m per minute. Based on the given scenario, what will be the meaning of
speed? What are the quantities to be considered in dealing with speed?

receiving the go signal, participant must release the toy car. All participants must start
from the starting line and reach the finish line. Lastly, record in your record notebook the
time of travel of every relay. Repeat the relay until everyone had already perform the

In a triathlon event, athlete A runs in a constant distance of 50 km for only 2 hours. So,
his speed is 25 km per hour. Athlete B swims in a constant distance of 20 km in 4 hours.
Therefore, his speed is 5 km per hour. So, based on these examples, how does time and
distance affect speed? Explain.

Traffic signs are very important for drivers and for us whose only means of transportation
is through land. Thus, it is a must to know and follow traffic and road signs. Here are
some traffic and road signs, identify them and their precautionary meanings in relation to
speed. Why do we need to observe these signs properly, especially when we are going to
school and going home? How will these signs help us to avoid accidents?
