1.1 Introduction about Samsung


Samsung is one of the largest producers of electronic devices in the world, headquartered in
Samsung Town, Seoul, Korea. Samsung specializes in manufacturing a wide variety of consumer
and industrial electronics, including appliances, digital multimedia devices, memory chips,
semiconductors and integrated systems.

culture. Every year, the company produces around a fifth of Korea’s total export.

Chapter 2: Purpose, key roles and responsibilities of the HR function


2.1 Purpose of the HR function
At Samsung, Human Resource Management plays an important role in organizing, staffing
and maintaining the division of the workforce. Besides that, Human Resource Management also
undertakes the work for employees and accomplishes the organization’s goals.
Human Resource Management department at Samsung has the following functions:
Administration functions are used to manage existing personnel in the company. Set out the
management objectives for each department of company, combining decision making consist of
planning, organizing, directing and controlling.
Operative functions to determine the elements to select the most deserving and most suitable
employee for the organization’s orientation. Consider the ability of candidate and the
requirements of each position to whether to choose you to do full-time employee of Samsung.
2.2 Key role and responsibility of the HR function
Job analysis: HR manager analyzes the skills and experience needed to take a position in the
company and predict the level of employment in the future of each person. Then use that
platform to offer information about the tasks you have to do. And find the way to motivate you
to work.
Performance evaluation: HR manager will reply on the performance of each employee,
compared with the requirements assigned to give an accurate assessment. Performance
evaluations consist of both positive and negative aspects.
Reward system: Samsung motivates employees by rewarding based on achievements. In
addition, Samsung also has other reward policies, but above all are five-stars dormitory, gyms,
cinema, laundry rooms, massage rooms, take the bus.
Employee development and training: HRM are responsible for researching the training of the
company and evaluate employee development programs designed to address them.
