Abstract

Parental earnings as a socio-economic status

reflects the student's capacity for social and economic
assets. Hence, the purpose of this study was to find
out if socio-economic and socialization of senior high
school students were determined by sex, age, and
strand. This also aimed to determine whether there
was a significant relationship between the socio-
economic status and socialization. The researchers
made use of a non-experimental research design
utilizing comparative and correlational analysis. To
determine the distribution of participants, a random
stratified sampling method was used. Frequency
distribution and percentage, mean and standard
deviation, t-test for independent samples, one-way
analysis of variance and Pearson product-moment
correlation coefficient were the statistical tools used to
treat the data. The results revealed that the parents of
the students had a low-monthly income and a low-class
level of socio-economic status. It was found out that
even though they are capable to learn to be a member
of group they had tendencies to long for belongingness
and company. Findings also indicated that there is no
significant relationship between socio-economic status
and socialization of senior high school students.
Teachers and guidance counselors may conduct
orientations to parents about financial management
literacy to provide them ideas regarding proper
financial management.
