FL Studio Notes : How to Set Up Your Midi Keyboard and Drumpad

Setting up One Midi Controller:

- Check if you need to download an necessary drivers (you may not but google on the
products website)
- Make sure you have a USB A (computer) to USB B (For Midi Port of Keyboard)
- Navigate to Midi Setting “F10” or Options -> Midi Settings
- Find Controller in the Input Box
- Make sure “Enable” is on (i.e., Green)
- Search for Controller in list, if you can’t find it leave it on generic controller or press the “?”
button is confused and it will make a suggestion.
- In “Ouput” tab:
o Select your controller
o Make sure “send master sync” is on (i.e., orange)
- Check at the top of the screen should have orange light appear if it receives a signal from
your controller.

Setting Up Two or More Controllers:

- Plugin and go to “Medi Setting” or “F10”


- Select controlers and make sure they are both on “enable” (In Input)
- To send controllers to desired instruments:
o Right Click on the Instrument -> “Receives notes from” -> The choose desired
controller
o Note: This will lock your instrument into these sounds so you may wish to have
Drum pads done this way while leaving your keyboard free
- Q: What about the output?

Linking Dials & Faders :

With Stock Plugins:

o Find an parameter and right click -> “link to controller”


o Once dialogue box opens, move the fader or dial you wish to use to control that
parameter.

3RD Party Plugins:

o Move desired parameter a bit with the mouse.


o At the top go to “Tools” -> “Last Tweaked”-> right click-> “Link to Controller”
o The Rest is as above.
