CAPTION

Caption text is a short text located near photos, illustration or diagram that gives important information about the photos,
illustration or diagram.

The Caption function: Helping readers or viewers to understand more information that may or may not be in photos
or videos.

RULE OF WRITING A CAPTION:


1. Supply specific information (Answering 5W1H Question)
2. User present tense on the first sentence
3. Caption are written in a complete sentences
4. Clearly identify the people and location in the photo
5. Identify the person from left to right.

Generic structure of caption:


1. photos/diagram/illustration.
2. Caption (description or information about photos)
3. Photo credit (“photo by …”)

1. Do not begin with the words a, an, or the
2. Use present tense to describe action in photo
3. Give readers information they can get from just looking at a photo.
4. A caption should complete the photo.
5. Write caption so they go from specific to general or general to specific
6. Caption should not repeat information contain in the lead.
7. Name people only if they are Important to the picture.
