I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
a. Identify the basic hand stitches.
b. Enumerate the different basic hand stitches.
c. Value the importance of basic hand stitches in dress making.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Basic Hand Stitches
Reference: K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum, TLE Learning Module
Materials: Power point presentation

III. Lesson Procedure


A. Preliminaries
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Class room Management/ House Rules
4. Attendance
5. Review the previous lesson.

B. Motivation
Pic-Word (5 minutes)
1. The students will evaluate the pictures that will be presented by the
teacher.
2. The students will guess the answer.
BASIC HAND STITCHES

C. Lesson Proper
1. The students will listen to the discussion about the basic hand stitches.
2. The students will reflect the example of each stitches.
Basic Hand Stitches
1. Back Stitch- this stitch resembles machine stitching and is used to
strengthen a seam made by hand.
2. Basting - basting is quite important in successful sewing. This is used to
hold temporarily in place,until permanently stitched.
4 types of basting
1. Hand basting
2. Pin basting
3. Machine basting
4. Basting edges with an iron

3. Running Stitch-a simple needlework stitch consisting of a line of small even


stitches that run in and out through the cloth without overlapping.
4. Outline Stitch- This stitch is similar to back stitch but it is slanted.
5. Blanket Stitch - The blanket stitch is a stitch used to reinforce the edge of
thick materials. The stitch can be seen on both sides of the blanket.
6. Catch Stitch- this stitch makes diagonal lines that cross each other.
7. Chain Stitch -a kind of ornamental hand stitching in which each stitch forms
a loop through the forward end of the next.
D. Application

1. The student will identify the pictures given according to its description.
2. The student will raise their hands.
3. The students will sate their answer as the teacher called their names.
