Lesson Plan in English 7

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of ways to extract and condense information
based on the library sources.

Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by using tools and mechanisms in locating library
resources.

Competency: (EN7SS-II-d-1.3/1.4)
Get information from the different parts of the book and from general references in the
library.

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify the parts of a book
b. Explain the purpose of each part of the book
c. Demonstrate understanding of the order of the parts of the book.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Parts of a Book
Reference: English Learner’s Material, pp. 213 – 215
Materials: PowerPoint
Laptop
Printed words and pictures

III. Procedure
A. Primary Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance

B. Review
Ask the students about the Card Catalogue.

C. Motivation
The students will follow the dance steps of the song “Head, Shoulder, knees and Toes”
Relate the dance step to the lesson “Parts of a Book”.
By pair: Locate the hidden words in the word puzzle.

D. Activity
Divide the class into five groups by counting off.
Each of the students will share to their group the words they found from the word
puzzle to complete the 11 words.
The group will arrange the words with their corresponding example pictures.

E. Abstraction
Discuss the purpose of each part of a book using a PowerPoint.
Have the students explain the importance of studying the parts of a book.

F. Application
By group: “The Bookish Explores Game”
Instructions:
1. The students will get information from the different parts of the book.
2. Given the following pieces of information, tell the part of a book they will use to access the
information.
3. Choose from the word pool provided.
4. Twist: Each of the member of the group will choose numbers 1-10, and make it sure that
that they will sit according to their numbers. Each member will be the one to answer the
item base on the number chosen.
5. A member will raise his/her answer. To catch up the attention of everyone while raising their
answer they need to make a pose according to their discipline as an SPA student.
6. Each correct answer will be given 2 points. And 1 point for the pose. The score earned by
the member will be the score of the group.

IV. Assessment
(1-10.) Identify the parts of a book being ask in each item.

V. Assignment
1. Enjoy your weekends.
2. Make it sure that you will spend more time with your family.
3. Do not forget to thank God for everything.
