Package 1 Lot 1A - Upper and Lower Dams Section 9 Specification

Upper Cisokan Pumped Storage Power Plant Project Part 2 T

’ echnical Specifications

Ce x (Tp - 26) < k x cS

Where,

Ce = coefficient of thermal expansion for the RCC

Tp = peak intemal temperature

ês = measured slow-load strain capacity

k is a constant = 0.9 for 0 to 10 m above foundation

1.0 for 10 to 20 m above foundation

1. 1 for 20 to 30 m above foundation

1.2 for more than 30 m above foundation

6.3.15.2. VeBe Time Control Standard

The VeBe time of the RCC , as measured on the dam placement area from RCC sampled at
the time it is about to be compacted, shall be 12-15 seconds. Adjustments in water content
or quantity of admixture may need to be made at the mixer by the contractor to ensure the
RCC arrives at the dam in a condition capable of meeting the specified 、TeBe value.

6.3.15.3.Control Standard for Time Interval between RCC Lifts

The time interval between RCC lifts shall be kept to a minimum to ensure bonding
between lifts is maximised. The control standard shall be based on a maximum allowable
time equivalent to the Initial Set Time of the RCC. The RCC mix may require to be
retarded so as to extend the initial set time by the addition of a chemical set retarding
admixture dosed at a rate to be determined by the contractors RCC trial mix studies and
confmned, to the satisfaction of the Engineer in the full scale RCC σial placement, such
that RCC lifts can be covered by the following lift within the retarded initial set time.
Where the time is exceeded then special measures to prepare the surface of the lift joint
will be required to be undertaken by the contractor as specified in Clause 6.3 .1 6.

6.3.15 .4 .Control of Height Difference between Adjacent Blocks

Where RCC is placed in discrete blocks comprising a number of monoliths and their
associated transverse contraction joints, the height difference of adjacent blocks shall be
limited to 10m. Blocks that are planned to exceed this height will require the express
approval of the Engineer well before hand and may require special surface insulation or
other thermal control measures and/or the construction of interlocking shear keys as may
be designed by the Engineer, the cost of such measures and keys wil1 be to the Contractors
expense.
