SELF – EFFICACY, TEST ANXIETY, HELP SEEKING, TV VIEWING, GPA

SELF – EFFICACY. . An independent samples t – test was used to compare the male and female respondents in terms of self – efficacy. The
male group (M = 4.0756; SD = 1.03386) was compared to the female group (M = 3.5861; SD = 0.85250) in terms of their self – efficacy. With t(213)
= 3.723; p = .000, the data concluded that there is a significant difference between male and female groups in terms of self – efficacy. It further means
that the male group have stronger conviction that they can do better and pass the subjects or course that they took than the female group.
TEST ANXIETY. An independent samples t – test was used to compare the male and female respondents in terms of test anxiety. With
t(213) = -1.681; p = .094, the data implies that there is no significant difference between male (M = 3.9887; SD = 1.00642) and female (M = 4.2264;
SD = 1.04784) in terms of test anxiety experience by the respondents. Meaning, both male and female suffer from stress and nervousness in taking
tests.
HELP SEEKING. An independent samples t – test was used to compare the male and female respondents in terms of help seeking. With
t(213) = -0.124; p = .902, the data depicts that there is no significant difference in help seeking of male (M = 2.9016; SD = 0.54668) and female (M
= 2.9099; SD = 0.38212) respondents. It denotes that all the respondents ask help to someone who’s more expert and knowledgeable.
TV VIEWING. To compare the TV viewing of the male and female respondents, an independent samples t – test was employed. The data
signifies that there is a significant difference between male (M = 5.4247; SD = 0.92280) and female (M = 5.1593; SD = 0.79112) in watching
television, with t(213) = 2.211; p = .028. It only means that male respondents are fond to watch television compare to female respondents.
GPA. An independent samples t – test was conducted to compare the GPA of male and female respondents. There was no significant difference
in the scores for male (M = 1.8486; SD = 0.66446) and female (M = 1.7595; SD = 0.57072); t(213) = 1.030; p = .304. The results suggest that male
and female respondents performed equally in school.
