CAISSA Cybersecurity Scholarship

What are the requirements and eligibility for the scholarships?

 The candidate must be pursuing a degree with a focus on cybersecurity, information assurance,
computer science, MIS or other related majors.
 The candidate must have completed two full years of coursework toward their degree by the time
of the award.
 The candidate must maintain a 3.0 average (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of application.
 There are no eligibility restrictions on student status (full-time, part-time, online or on-campus).
 Immediate family members (spouse and children) of CAISSA Board Members and Leadership
teams are not eligible.

What is the application deadline?

 Applications and all supporting documents must be received by October 31, 2017 and sent to the
contact information listed below.

How and when will I be notified if I get a scholarship?

 Scholarship applicants will be notified in by the end of October and announced at the November
CAISSA chapter meeting.

When and how will I get my scholarship money?

 Two (2) scholarship awards of $4,000 will be provided directly to the awardees at the December
CAISSA chapter meeting.

Applicants will be evaluated on the following:

 Passion (derived from essay)
 Merit (derived from accomplishments and recommendation)
 Potential (derived from essay and recommendation)
 Integrity (derived from recommendation)

Requirements for Scholarship Application:

 Submit a copy of your Resume and official transcript.
 One letter of support from a faculty member, advisor or relevant school official.
 Essay (1-2 pages) describing:
o Student’s specific interest and dedication to a career in the Information Security discipline
o What predictions does the student have for the information Security industry over the next
three to five years? What, in the student’s opinion, will be the emerging threats and
concerns?
