the students the components of an expository paper. Ways to support students with visual impairments
would be to increase the zoom on the map. The bubble map allows ELL students to use vocabulary they are
fluent in and allows them to work using what they know. The students get to learn more about their dream
jobs which keeps them engaged and differentiates to each student themselves.
Lesson idea implementation:
The standard is about students writing an expository paper with supporting ideas. The students will be
given the topic to write about their dream jobs. They will get to create a bubble.us diagram to help organize
their thoughts and supporting details. They will do research on their dream job in order to retrieve the
information. They will have this assignment for two weeks. The first week will consist of the students
retrieving information. The second week will be the week for the students to be able to put together their
paper.
They will write about their dream job with the information retrieved from week one. Then they will create
a poster about the job. The paper will be in the middle and the poster will be pictures of the job. Also they will
provide qualities about themselves that will help them in this job based on the information retrieved. The
posters will then be hung around the classroom. The writing pieces will be assessed based on the organization
of their thoughts and supporting factual details in the paper. Feedback will be provided by giving individual
feedback to each student about any mistakes that need to be addressed.

Reflective Practice:
This activity helps student attain basic writing skills while writing about a personal passion. They can use
these skills to then write a paper about other subject areas which may require more research. Technology
tools that can be used can be Microsoft Word or Google Docs to type the paper.
