EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGIES
Internet Stands for “inter-networking” An electronic communications network that connects computer
networks and organizational computer facilities around the world.
Web Browser It is a software installed on your computer system which allows you locate, view, and navigate
the web.
What is WEB?
The Web, or World Wide Web (W3), is basically a system of Internet that support specially formatted
documents.
EVOLUTION OF WEB
a. WEB 1.0: STATIC WEB PAGES Static is known as flat page or stationary page in the sense that
the page is “as is” and cannot be manipulated by the user. The content is also the same for all users.
c. WEB 3.0: SEMANTIC WEB PAGES Semantic Web is a movement led by the World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C). The W3C standard encourages the developers to include semantic contend in
the web pages. The term was coined by the inventor of the World Wide Web,
Tim Berners-Lee (Invented the WWW). He also noted that the Semantic Web is a component for
web.
WEB 3.0 IS NOT YET TO BE FULLY REALIZED BECAUSE OF THE SEVERAL PROBLEMS:
1. Compatibility- HTML files and current web browsers could not support Web 3.0.
2. Security- The user’s security is also in question since the machine is saving his or her preferences.
3. Vastness-The World Wide Web already contains billions of web pages.
4. Vagueness- Certain words are imprecise. The words “old” and “small” would depend on the user.
5. Logic-Since machines are logic, there are certain limitations for a computer to be able to predict
what the user is referring to at a given time.
d. WEB 4.0 MOBILE WEB connects all devices in the real and virtual world in real-time.
e. WEB 5.0 SYMBIOTIC WEB it is all about the (emotional) interaction between humans and
computers.
TRENDS IN ICT
As the world of ICT continues to grow, the industry has focused on several innovations.
3. Mobile Technologies The popularity of smartphones and tablets has taken a major rise over the years.
Several of these devices are capable of using high-speed internet. Today, the latest mobile devices use
4G Networking, which currently the fastest mobile network. Also, mobile devices use different operating
systems:
OPERATING SYSTEM is a system software that manages computer hardware and software resources
and provides common services for computer programs.
4. Assistive Media is a non-profit service designed to help who have a visual and reading impairments. A
database of audio recordings is used to read to the user.
