FOOTFALL:

After using the linear regression forecasting method, Mr. Siddharth and his team
are confident that they will be able to get a footfall of 15000+ in Infusion 2020 and
can now ask their sponsor SBI to initiate their offer of providing the deal as
discussed. (Please refer Excel for calculations)

OPTIMUM LOCATION

Campus Layout - IIM Rohtak

The five major points of maximum crowd concentration, as seen in Exhibit 4, are
the lecture halls, seminar hall, open gardens, sports ground and open theatre. The
food court, sanitation and parking facilities need to be planned to make sure that
maximum crowd concentration points have the minimum crowd flow distance to
access these facilities. It would help the participants and visitors to save on time
with increased convenience and also, nearness to food stalls will increase revenue
from the fest. Exhibit 3 also provides the crowd volume at each event and the
corresponding location. Siddharth takes the centre of gravity approach to determine
the optimal location. Let the lecture halls, seminar halls, open theatre, sports
ground and open theatre be represented by points P, Q, R, S and T respectively.
Scale: 1 smallest grid line represents 50metres on ground

AX (X, V): x- coordinate on layout map, y- footfall volume of the venue

Therefore, for points, P, Q, R, S and T, the coordinates are the following:

PX (750, 6620)
QX (700, 1870)
RX (750, 27830)
SX (1050, 13200)
TX (650, 5610)

Similarly,

The Y coordinates are the following:

PY (900, 6620)
QY (550, 1870)
RY (1200, 27830)
SY (1250, 13200)
TY (200, 5610)

CX=
(750X6620)+(700X1870)+(750X27830)+(1050X13200)+(650X5610)/(6620+1870
+27830+13200+5610)= 44653000/55130 = 809.95

CY= (900X6620) + (550X1870) + (1200X27830) + (1250X13200) +

(200X5610)/(6620+1870+27830+13200+5610) = 23948500/55130= 434.40

Following the centre of gravity method, the coordinates of the optimal area are
obtained and plotted on the map as the region X, represented in red.
Centre of Gravity Method identifies region X as the optimal region for Food,
Sanitation and Parking arrangements
