Quality Engineering Manager; Screening Questions:

How do you apply your technical skills in delivering projects in a fast paced environment?
I have a lot of experience in Agile and in different software testing methodologies. I look for way to
improve the overall process for example: cutting down regression time by testing in a single code branch
or automating complex test cases to ensure on time delivery. I’ve also used the Agile process to speed
up the releases and streamline them into a monthly cadence.

Any experience in Automation tools and prior hands on experience in establishing framework? Please
explain:
I do have experience with several automated tools including selenium, appium and SeeTest. I have
helped to establish 3 frameworks over 3 different companies and have met or exceeded automation
targets that have been set. The current framework at VMware is built with Ruby/Cucumber and uses
Appium as the driver. I am also driving the PoC to switch to a different driver (SeeTest)

Please explain your leadership skills, style in managing and ways of motivating people?
I have a very open leadership style and for my teams, I lead by example. I believe in delegating
responsibility to the team and to remove the roadblocks that are preventing the team from being
effective. For motivating my employees, I deliver positive feedback when the team members do well, I
recognize team members who go above and beyond, I organize team events to build team camaraderie,
and I use financial incentives (bonuses, spot awards, stock grants, etc). I strongly believe in recognizing
people for their accomplishments and I believe in the golden rule – treat others as you would like them
to treat you.

What is your prior experience in performance management? Please expand upon:


I have managed teams as small as 3 people up to a team of 40+ QA engineers. I have more than 5 years
experience in conducting 1 on 1’s with employees, delivering timely employee feedback, conducting
yearly/quarterly performance reviews and hiring/firing employees. I have also promoted several people
into positions of increasing responsibility and have mentored several people (both in my group and
outside of my group).
