Statement Of Purpose

“Good Food for Better Life”, were the words I used to hear frequently from my
father. On numerous occasions while taking food, I used to wonder, what really is a
‘good food’? How is it prepared? How does a good food provide a better life?

Another field about which I used to incessantly wonder was ‘ Computer Science’.
I underwent computer course and programming. My curiosity accrued day by day and I
was very avid to learn more about the two fields. I could learn a bit of computers through
the computer course. But where can I learn about food? I needed a college with well-
qualified and experienced faculty, good infrastructure and right environment, to do so.
But which college? Tamilnadu Agricultural University – Coimbatore, the best
Agricultural University in India, answered my question. I took up B.Tech food Process
Engineering at TNAU.

I was happy that I got into the right college to satiate my thirst. But the faculty
here are the paradigm of the saying: “A good teacher does not give something to drink,
but makes you thirsty”. Yes, they made me thirstier. Now on the brink of completing my
Bachelor’s degree with an OGPA of 9.15 out of 10.0 and GPA of 9.3 and 9.7 in food
Engineering and Computer Science courses respectively, I get to think, which one should
I choose now? Can I integrate both? ‘Yes’ answered the University of California Davis.

I am confident that, if I happen to pursue my higher studies at your University,

under the mentorship of your experienced and well qualified faculty and with the right
environment and research facilities, can couple my interest in computers and my practical
experience to latest technologies like Microwave Technology, Spray drying, Vacuum
packaging, Pasteurization, Plate freezing, Reverse Osmosis and related equipments for
intellectual satisfaction as well as work for the betterment of the field and there by
provide the mankind with “Good Food for Better Life”.
