ABSTRACTION

SCULPTURE
The process of or art of carving or molding clay, stone, metal, etc. into sculpture.
MATERIALS/MEDIUM USED IN SCULPTURE

ADDITIVE SCULPTING
-additive sculpting processes involve adding materials to “build up” the sculpture.
SUBTRACTIVE SCULPTING
- rely on the removal of the material to “reveal” the sculpture
CLASSIFICATIONS OF
SCULPTURE
BASS RELIEF SCULPTURE
-is a projecting image with a shallow overall depth on a surface
HIGH RELIEF SCULPTURE
-is where in general more than half the mass of the sculpted figure projects from the background
SUNKEN RELIEF SCULPTURE
-The image is made by cutting the relief sculpture itself into a flat surface. In a simpler form the images are
usually mostly linear in nature.
KINETIC SCULPTURE
-movement itself an integral part of the design of the sculpture and not merely to impart movement to already
complete static object
STEPS IN MAKING SCULPTURE
1.Sketch your sculpture.
2.Create a base.
3.Start from larger form to smaller one.
4.Carve in the details.
