To all the dignitaries, guests, valued member-consumers and my fellow
workers in the electrification program, it is my honor and privilege to introduce our guest speaker this afternoon/ especially/ that it gives me a bird’s eye view of his to die for resume. I am at loss for words on how to properly highlight his achievements and the impact of his knowledge in the field we all continuously pursue.
A native of Impasug-ong Bukidnon, he finished both his elementary
and secondary studies in his hometown. He, then, continued and finished his tertiary education at Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Maramag Bukidnon, taking on his sleeve the Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004. He added a feather on his cap by becoming both a Registered Electrical Engineer and Registered Master Electrician in 2005. Since this person believes that a career needs to be dynamic, his thirst for further mastery and proficiency led him to take up competencies training on both Power Systems Modeling and Analysis and Distribution Planning at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Moreover, he took 18- unit Masters in Engineering Management at Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro from 2008-2009 and finally pursued Masters in Engineering Program at Mindanao University of Science and Technology in Cagayan de Oro from 2010-2013. He eventually marked the centerpiece of his field by becoming a Professional Electrical Engineer in 2014.
With his outstanding educational background, it’s not surprising to note
that he is currently the Chief Operations Officer of Bukidnon Sub- Transmission Corporation with headquarters at Dacuyan Compound in Hagkol, Valencia City, Bukidnon. He also happens to be the Technical Consultant of the Joint Congressional Power Committee of the Office of former Congressman Edgardo R. Masongsong now the National Electrification Administration Chief. Prior to holding his current offices, he worked as a Technical Staff in Bukidnon II Electric Cooperative, Inc. at Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon from 2005-2006. He, then, became the Corporate Planning Manager from 2006-2007. From 2007-2013 he served as Technical Services Department Manager of BUSECO before eventually becoming a branch manager in Malaybalay, Bukidnon from 2013-2014. As a successful professional electrical engineer in his own right, he has been affiliated and involved in several committees and organizations. From July 2010, he was the regional PHILATMEC Northern Mindanao Electric Cooperatives Association for 3 consecutive years. In August 2011, he became the National Auditor of PHILATMEC in which he made significant contributions as far as technicalities were concerned.
Furthermore, he functioned as Vice-President External of the Integrated
Institute of Electrical Engineers whose focus was on conceptualization and development from December 2012. In October 2013, he became a technical consultant of Biomass Powerplant with key role on establishing overview on the set-up of the power industry in the Philippines. Then in January 2014, he started being a Commission under the Office of former Congressman Edgardo Masongsong.
His list of certificates of participation on several trainings, seminar
workshops and study tours are but testaments of his desire to improve himself and for complacency not to dwell on his life as he continues to develop his technical skills. In light of his outstanding achievements, let me mention his Project Management to Aglayan Substation in 2009, Project for Lunocan to Sumilao 69KV line in 2012 and Project Management to Sumilao Substation in the same year.
While reading through his curriculum vitae, I couldn’t help but be
reminded of his highlighted fields of specialization in engineering work, management of sub-transmission company, management of the engineering department of the electric cooperative, consultancy on the field of electrical engineering and research and development for renewable energy projects.
My friends, ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming the man
of the hour, ENGR. ARTIS NIKKI L. TORTOLA, MEP, PEE.
