Zomato Koramangala Dashboard Analyses

Zomato is an Indian restaurant search and discovery service founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal
and Pankaj Chaddah. It provides information, menus and user-reviews of restaurants, and also
has food delivery options from partner restaurants in select cities. As of 2016, the service is
available in 24 countries. The dashboard was created via google design studio, the data used was
extracted from online data service. The below report contains around 1000 Zomato aggregated
restaurants in Koramangala area. The information was available in a raw form which was cleaned
and converted to suit the studio format. Below parameters were used in the dashboard.

 Restaurant Name – This is the name of the restaurant associated with Zomato.

 Online Order – If the restaurant is available for Online Order. In the form of Yes or No

 Rating – The restaurant Rating data. The rating is out of 5.

 Popularity – This is decided on the basis of Number of votes and reviews.

 Restaurant Type – What can the restaurant be categorized under. Eg Asian, Continental,

Café etc.

 Cost of Two – This is the average cost of two persons in the particular restaurant.

 Area – The block or the location of the restaurant.

Data Cleansing

The data available online was in a raw and unstructured format, the data needed cleaning and
converted into a csv format. There were lot of irregularities in the data and lot of information
was actually not required. Thus, it was very imperative to make sure that the data is appropriate
and apt for the analyses and the dashboard. Specially when we are dealing with data with
various characteristics.

The data was cleaned and brought in an appropriate format, Then it was converted to csv format
making sure there were no commas in the data to avoid errors. I particularly uses TRIM and
CLEAN function in excel to avoid any carriage retunes and extra spaces. The data was also
reduced and I wanted to only concentrate on a particular area, However analyses can be done
on various regions and locations accordingly.

Google Data Studio

Data Studio is Google's reporting solution for power users who want to go beyond the data and
dashboards. The tool was very interactive and easy to use. The data was imported and there
were certain errors highlighted by the studio, a small rework and looking into details of the
errors made it easier to correct and import the data.

The tool was easy to operate and provided various graphics options to present the data in an
attractive way. The could be also very much experimentations that could be done with the data.
Various filters helped me to understand the nature of the data more and come up with various
combinations that would make sense out of the data.
The below explains various combinations used in the data which made sense and derived a trend
that would make sense.
This trend was later used to analyze the derive meaning out of the data. The various
combinations/Filters used are explained below:
1) Type of Restaurants
The Type of restaurants basically is presented in a pie chart and gives us a good insight about
what are the various types of restaurants present in the Koramangala area and which is the

comprising about 38.8% of the total restaurants, followed by Café and Lounges suitable for the
young college going crowd.

2) Restaurants Ratings
The next part was the ratings of the restaurant which comprises of both online and dine-in
orders. The ratings are calculated on the basis of scores that are provided by the customers and
these scores are out of 5. If we look at count of restaurants which are rated the highest It
reaches out to 86, which derived Koramangala has some highly rated restaurants.

out of all the restaurants.

derived basis of the highest rated restaurants in the area.

5) Popularity

reviews are either provided online or at the restaurant itself. Truffles is the most popular in the
area followed by the Black pearl.

6) Popularity V/s Cost

This particular chart will show us the relationship between the restaurant cost and it’s
popularity. If we notice closely Truffes being the most popular restaurant has a reason for it’s
