    Athens International Airport saw record passenger numbers in 2018 and continues to see growth in 2019. During the first 9 months of 2019, domestic passenger traffic increased 1.6% while international passenger traffic grew 8.8%, resulting in a total passenger increase of 6.5% compared to the same period in 2018. China has become Athens International Airport's 16th largest market and direct and indirect flights between Athens and China have increased 65% from 2013 to 2018. During the first 9 months of 2019, international arrivals grew 11.8%, with China seeing a significant 30% increase. New non-stop flight routes have benefited the record number of foreign visitor arrivals.
