MODIFICATIONS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT IN TEMPERATURE SENSOR
HARNESS

OUTLINE
This Service Bulletin is to inform of a malfunction in EH4000AC II of some S/Nos. Open circuit was
found in the low-voltage electric wire (temperature-compensation electric wire of the travel motor
temperature sensor) between the rear axle and frame.
Add the bracket and secure the harness appropriately according to this Service Bulletin if the
harness tension is extremely tight in the harness reposition.
For the modification procedures, refer to the following pages.

Thoroughly read the safety section in the service manual before starting the work to ensure safe operation.
Welding work, if any, should only be done by qualified welders.

2-1 Work overview
According to the procedures on the following pages, install the bracket if the tension of harnesses as
shown in Figures 3 and 4 is extremely tight. Reposition the harnesses so that the tension is not
extremely tight and add the position where the harnesses are secured.

When repositioning the harnesses again in the procedures on the following pages, secure them while
loosening the harness at the position as shown in Figure 3.

① Remove 1 clip (P/No. 4190263) and 1 bolt; sems (P/No. J271025)
installed to the screw seat as shown in Figure 5.
Use the removed parts in following procedure ②.

② Remove the bracket as shown in Figure 9.
Discard the removed bracket and use the removed bolt; sems (P/No. J271080~2) in following
procedure ③.
Use the ratchet (box size: 17mm) for M10.

③ Use the bolt; sems (P/No. J271080~2) that was removed in procedure ② to install 1 bracket (P/No.
YA00018573) to the resin clamp. (Refer to Figure 10.)
Use clip (P/No. 4190263~1) and bolt; sems (P/No. J271025~1) to secure the harnesses.
Use the ratchet (box size: 17mm) for M10 and spanner (box size: 17mm) for M10.

① Remove the parts as shown in Table 5 and Figure 11.
Among the removed parts, use only clip (P/No. 4190263) in following procedure ②.
Discard the other parts.

Use the ratchet (box size: 17mm) for M10 and spanner (box size: 17mm) for M10.

Remove the parts as listed in Table 4.

① Rotate the plug connector as shown in Figure 13 in counterclockwise
direction to remove it.
Remove it without using any tool. Plug connector

② Remove the panel nut and lock washer attached to the receptacle connector as shown in Figure 15.
Use the pliers (adjustable wrench) as shown in Figure 1 on page 4.

Use the ratchet (box size: 17mm) for M10.
Discard the removed bracket only. Use the other parts in ②.

① Install the receptacle connector as shown in Figure 19.
Use the panel nut and lock washer that were removed in procedure ② on
the previous page.
Use the pliers (adjustable wrench) as shown in Figure 1 on page 4.

② Install the plug connector that was removed in procedure 2-5 ①.


Install it without using any tool.

completed

3-1 Confirming the harness looseness


Confirm that the harness at the position as shown in Figure 21 is sufficiently loosened.

If its tension is tight, loosen the clips and fixed resin clamp once. Reposition the harness at the position
as shown in the following figure again so that it is sufficiently loosened.

Confirm that the harness at this position is sufficiently


loosened.

3-2 Confirming the torque


Confirm that the torque is applied securely to all the bolts that were installed according to the previous
procedures.
If the bolts are loosened, retighten them.
Tightening torque is 50N·m.

The modification work has been completed.
