 Dear parishioners and visitors,
This Sunday is Mission Sunday in the Catholic
Church. We should always remember in prayer
and financial support of the Catholic Church and
her missionaries serving throughout the
world. Since most of us will never have the oppor-
tunity to serve in the missions, this is our way to
support those who have been called to do so.
I had the tremendous opportunity to serve in the
foreign missions during the summer of my third
year as a transitional deacon in Malawi, Africa forty
years ago. When I was a young boy and consider-
ing being ordained a priest, I contemplated being a
religious order priest wanting to serve abroad. The
summer in Malawi was a great opportunity to see
what it was like, and fulfill a dream even though I
became a diocesan priest. I will never forget that
experience and have very fond memories.
Our diocese has had a great recognition being very
generously supporting Catholic missionaries.
Envelopes for the appeal are located in the back of
both churches.

DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL
If you have not yet given to the 2019 Diocesan
Annual Appeal, please do so now and be gener-
ous. As was in the bulletin about a month ago,
our parish family did not reach its goal and was
shy @ $10,500.00. Money given within this fis-
cal year had to pay for this bill from last year.
The target amount for our parish this year went
up an additional $5,000.00. All money given
over and above the target amount comes back
to the parish which is used in its operational
budget.
Thank you to all who attended the Burgers & Fries
supper last weekend and thanks to all who helped
with the preparations for this event. The 50/50 win-
ners were Carolyn Wagner & Bob & Rose Ziel
($60.00 each).

 JWalkers Road Rally is set for Sunday, October 27.
JWalkers if you haven’t signed up yet please contact
Kurt or Mary. We will meet at the Fellowship Hall at
3:30 pm. Parents we need lots of help to pull this
extremely fun and crazy event off. We feel this year
will be the most fun Rally yet!
Therese Aukofer representing Pro-Life Wisconsin
will speak to our Confirmation Students on
Wednesday, October 30 6:30-8 p.m. in the Fellowship
Hall. All parishioners are also invited.
Fall Fest Notes….We are looking for baskets to
be donated for the Basket Raffle at the Fall Festi-
val this year. They can be dropped at either recto-
ry or contact Mary Stoeffler. Thank you for your
generosity.
We also are looking for Arts & Crafts plus Bake
Sale items for the Fall Fest. We hope you can
help us out.
There will be a planning meeting this Thursday
evening, Oct. 24th at 5:30 pm in St. Gabriel’s Caf-
eteria for all chairpersons of the dining room,
kitchen for the dinner & supper hour, carryouts,
games, etc. or anyone who would like to help.
IN SYMPATHY
Please remember John C. “Jack” Mulrooney in
your prayers. His funeral was held at St. Gabri-
el’s Church of the Holy Family Parish on Friday,
October 18th. May God grant him eternal life
and comfort to his family.
Men of the Cross Conference
Fifth annual: Theme - “The Father’s Way.” A special
rate is being offered for Father-Son attendees. The
conference is held at Aquinas High School in La

SCHOOL NEWS
In honor of All Saints Day our 7th and 8th grade
students will present a program at 2:00 p.m. on Friday
November 1, in St. Gabriel ‘s Church. The students will be
dressed as their favorite saint and each will give a brief
presentation about their Saint. All are invited to see this
wonderful program.
Prairie Catholic Student Council will host a Vet-
eran’s Day Program on Monday, November 11 at 2:00
p.m. in St. Gabriel’s School Basement. If you would like
to include a loved ones that has served or is currently serv-
ing on our Wall of Honor, please drop a picture to school
office by November 1.
