Constitution of 1973, Article: 25A Right to Education

25A. Right to education.—The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the
age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.

Education Affairs and Services have been provided with Rs 77,262 million in
the budget estimates 2019-20 as compared with Rs 97,420 million in budget
estimates 2018-19 and Rs 97,155 million in revised estimates 2018-19.

Economy Survey of Pak

Pakistan’ public expenditure on education as a percentage of the GDP is estimated at


2.4 percent in the fiscal year 2018-19, the lowest in the region, revealed the Economic
Survey (2018-2019) released on Monday.
According to UNDP’s Human Development Report 2018, Pakistan is ranked 150th
out of 189 countries with a Human Development Indicator (HDI) value of 0.562 (with
1 being the maximum value). According to the educational indicators, only
Afghanistan lags behind Pakistan in the context of regional comparison. All other
regional countries have shown improvement in HDI in comparison to Pakistan.
