MOVIE ANALYSIS: A WEREWOLF BOY

A Werewolf Boy tells the story of a girl named Soon Yi (Park Bo Young) who moves
to the countryside with her mother and sister. Soon Yi has a lung ailment which is why
their doctor recommended the move. Soon after moving into their new home, the
family discovers a wild boy (Song Joong Ki) living in the barn. Wanting to help, the family
takes him in and soon a relationship begins to form between Soon Yi and the boy.

The group 3’s report was about Assimilation, mass communication, and
sojourning. Assimilation means the process of taking in and fully understanding
information or ideas where seen easily in the movie. The werewolf boy (Song Joong Ki)
was a found in the protagonist’s place. He’s a werewolf so he does not understand human
communication that much. Later on, the family of the protagonist took him in and took
care of him. The main character on the other hand nurtured him on how to eat properly
and communicate well with them. It takes time and process to fully understand the human
communication for a werewolf. Next is sojourning which means staying somewhere
temporarily. Obviously, the werewolf is not from there. He maybe just got lost and now,
he’s a stray boy. The family took him and took care of him, temporarily. Because he is a
werewolf, he can’t stay at a place where there are people who does not understand him
because it is dangerous for him. In the movie, the protagonist wants him to get lost even
if it is against her will because throughout their relationship with each other, they both got
developed a certain feelings that they can only understand. Relating to the group 3’s
report on the other hand, we can learn somebody’s culture, language, etc through staying
with that certain place or environment. In that case, we well be able to also understand
the atmosphere they are feeling.

What I learned from the movie is, love is unconditional. If love hits you, you can’t
avoid it. Live on with it instead. It comes with consequences but sometimes, we love
people who is worth fighting for.
