Ngā mihi nui ki a koe!
Kia ora and thanks for purchasing this resource!

This resource was made with the intention

of “normalising” te reo Māori in mainstream
schools.
If you have any requests or questions
please feel free to email me at
thetereomaoriclassroom@gmail.com
I am always happy to consider particular
needs, and specific resources you would like
made. It is a requirement that we integrate
te reo Māori in our classroom
programmes.
One suggestion is to see where else
these resources can fit in your
programme other than the te reo
lesson. E.g. flashcards can be made
into a booklet and kept in the library,
games and matching activities can be
part of the reading tumble,
whakataukī part of “topic”.

Tātai reta Māori
(Māori alphabet)
Nau mai,
This rauemi is specifically to practice the
wonderful sounds of the Māori alphabet.
Full of alliteration and common words, these
can be used all through your day. They can
be read, sung, and accompanied by music,
rākau clapping etc.
Both oropuare (vowels) and orokati
(consonants) are charted.
Have fun with these! Make a talking book or
poem book. Black and whites are available
for tamariki to colour and practice. To hear
the tune for the waiata/poems-
